Be Bold Be Birmingham

What does it mean to you?

It's progressed from a slogan to a rallying cry: Be Bold Be Birmingham. It's in our train stations, around our Council House and across our city. It was emblazoned on the rooftop of a Smithfield car park, where street artist Gent 48 left his indelible touch.

Be part of a Bold future

Now it’s your turn to get involved with Be Bold Be Birmingham. Birmingham City Council (BCC) would like to invite five local artists to create their interpretation of the slogan. Artistic licence is granted, as BCC are looking for personal interpretations of what Be Bold Be Birmingham means to you – designs should be A4 and kept in the Be Bold colour palette.

"This campaign is centred around building civic pride," says Councillor Ian Ward, the Leader of Birmingham City Council.

"Be Bold Be Birmingham is about every person, every community, every business and every event. It's about being proud of our city and of our neighbourhoods before, during and after the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

"Birmingham is a city of talent and creativity and we want all residents and businesses across the city to get involved in the campaign to showcase that creativity. So, whether it's a scanned sketch, a painting or a piece of graphic design, we want to see it."

If you would like to enter, please provide a brief overview of your proposed artwork. This might be a sketch or skeleton framework of a graphic design. Proposals should be submitted to by 5pm on June 6. Five submissions will be selected to be produced in full, with limited edition prints given to VIPs when visiting Birmingham. Each creator of the five selected proposals will be awarded £500 payment for their completed design.
